Tax advisory and business support services company Onestli joins the initiative

Onestli has joined the employers’ initiative Employers Against Domestic Abuse in order to raise employee awareness of domestic abuse and to empower them to become ambassadors for building a safer Estonia.

“The initiative of the President Kaljulaid Foundation to educate employers to recognise and support those in need is an excellent opportunity to contribute to raising awareness in society more broadly. I hope that more of us will be able to recognise the warning signs of domestic abuse and have the courage to respond when necessary. We can start within our own working environment, by contributing to the idea that every member of a team can become a conscious ambassador for creating a safer Estonia,” said Iren Lipre, Managing Partner of Onestli.

She noted that the company was motivated to join the initiative by a desire to learn how to offer help to those in need at the right moment in difficult situations, while at the same time not overstepping the boundaries of personal privacy. “For most of my working life, I believed that personal matters and conversations should remain outside the office. Unfortunately, I have seen how certain experiences can be so burdensome and all-encompassing that it is simply impossible to leave them ‘at the door’ when coming to work,” Lipre reflected.

**Triin Adamson, Head of the Initiative, emphasised the importance of organisations of different sizes paying attention to domestic abuse awareness in the workplace. “Onestli is one of the first small businesses to join the initiative. Considering that the majority of companies operating in Estonia are relatively small, their combined impact on society is significant. Onestli is hopefully an excellent example for others in raising awareness of domestic abuse,” said Adamson.

Nineteen companies have joined the community, employing a total of more than 25,000 people. All employers are welcome to join the initiative, regardless of sector or organisational size. We invite companies, non-profit organisations, foundations and other legal entities who share our values and vision to take part. Individuals with an interest in the topic are also welcome to join.
