If Insurance joins the initiative

If Insurance, the leading insurance company in the Nordic and Baltic region, has joined the initiative Empolyers Against Domestic Abuse. The company’s Estonian unit employs nearly 600 people.

“Domestic abuse is not merely someone’s personal concern, but an issue that affects our society more broadly — the people around us, our clients and colleagues, as well as their wellbeing, sense of security and everyday lives. That is why it is important to notice, speak up and offer support early on, so that no one is left alone with their concern and the harm to people and society is reduced,” said Grete Kotkas, Head of If Insurance Baltic HR unit.

If joined the initiative with the belief that a safer and more caring society starts with each of us. “Every person has their own experiences and understanding of what safe relationships and a caring environment mean. Raising awareness, training and a supportive workplace culture help create a space where people feel able to ask for help, notice one another and offer support. Through our actions, we want to contribute to a shared understanding that everyone has the right to safety and care — both at home and at work. It is this kind of care and trust that helps build a stronger and more responsible society,” Kotkas explained.

“Insurance companies work every day to help people prevent risks, maintain a sense of security and recover from difficult situations. In the case of domestic abuse, the same principles are also very important in the workplace — noticing early signs, offering support and helping people find a path to help. We are very pleased that If Insurance is joining the community and showing that a caring workplace culture that is aware of domestic abuse is part of being a responsible organisation,” said Triin Adamson, Head of the Employers Against Domestic Abuse.

Twenty two companies have joined the community, employing a total of more than 30,000 people. All employers are welcome to join the initiative, regardless of sector or organisational size. We invite companies, non-profit organisations, foundations and other legal entities who share our values and vision to take part. Individuals with an interest in the topic are also welcome to join.
