Elora joins the intiative

The provider of nursing and care services Elora, which includes Keila, Hiiu, and Maardu hospitals, has joined the initiative Employers Against Domestic Abuse. The Elora team consists of more than 500 employees who care for approximately 900 patients and clients on a daily basis.
“The 500 employees working at Elora’s nursing hospitals and care homes provide daily care for more than 900 individuals. Therefore, it is crucial for us to ensure that both employees and those in our care are protected from all forms of violence – whether mental, physical, economic, emotional, or any other type. Our goal is to raise awareness about recognising and preventing abuse, and to provide our staff with the necessary knowledge and tools. In a large team operating across three different hospitals, the expertise of a few specialists is not enough – it’s essential that the whole team knows how to notice and respond,” said Elora's Head of Communications, Martin Miido.
He added that Elora staff interact daily with patients’ and clients’ family members: “We see how much a caring and supportive family relationship can aid a patient’s recovery or a client’s well-being. Unfortunately, there are also situations where family dynamics are complex or even violent – and it’s not always the elderly person who is the victim. Our role is to identify such situations and offer support, both in prevention and, where possible, in solution,” Miido added.
Triin Adamson, the head of the initiative, emphasised the crucial role of healthcare institutions in identifying and preventing domestic abuse: “Healthcare and care service providers often encounter a wide range of life situations in their work. Their observations can be key to identifying hidden patterns of domestic abuse and offering victims the support they need. We are truly pleased that Elora has taken a step towards a violence-free society and is investing in raising awareness within its team.”
All employers, regardless of industry or organisation size, are welcome to join the initiative. We invite businesses, non-profit organisations, foundations, and other legal entities that share our values and vision, as well as citizens who are interested in the cause.
