Eesti Pank joins the initiative

Eesti Pank, the central bank of the Republic of Estonia, has joined the initiative Employers Against Domestic Abuse. The organisation employs 250 people.
“Domestic abuse is something we, as a society, do not want to see — just like any other form of violence. In addition, domestic abuse has a very significant economic impact, reducing victims’ ability to work and increasing healthcare costs. At Eesti Pank, we feel that the least we can do as an organisation is to make sure colleagues are able to notice someone who may need help and know where to refer a co-worker for the support they need. The employers’ initiative helps us do this in a much more thoughtful way than we could on our own,” said Madis Müller, President of the Eesti Pank.
Eesti Pank is the central bank of the Republic of Estonia. As a central bank of the euro area, it contributes to the sustainable development of Estonia’s economy and the growth of prosperity by keeping price growth moderate, the financial sector stable and the circulation of money functioning smoothly. Eesti Pank employs 250 people.
“We are very pleased that public sector institutions have also found their way to the Vägivallavabaks initiative and consider it important to raise awareness of domestic abuse and its impact. Eesti Pank joining the initiative also helps draw attention to economic abuse, which is one of the fastest-growing yet often overlooked forms of abuse. It can involve control over a person’s income, bank accounts, loan obligations or financial decisions, and can directly affect their ability to leave an abusive relationship or seek help,” said Triin Adamson, Head of the initiative. She hopes that, together with organisations in the financial sector, the initiative will also be able to explore more practical ways to prevent or hinder the perpetration of economic abuse.
Twenty two companies have joined the community, employing a total of more than 30,000 people. All employers are welcome to join the initiative, regardless of sector or organisational size. We invite companies, non-profit organisations, foundations and other legal entities who share our values and vision to take part. Individuals with an interest in the topic are also welcome to join.
