Selver joins the Initiative as a Beacon Member

The Estonian retail chain Selver, which operates more than 70 stores across the country, has joined the initiative as a Beacon Member for a period of three years.

"Domestic abuse is a serious yet often hidden issue in society that requires greater attention. As an employer, our responsibility goes beyond simply ensuring working conditions – we consider it vital to contribute to the mental and physical wellbeing of our employees. By raising awareness about domestic abuse, we create an environment where people feel empowered to ask for help, are able to recognise those in need, and know how to offer support. A safe and caring workplace is a fundamental value for Selver," said Kristi Lomp, Member of the Management Board of Selver AS, in relation to joining the initiative. Selver employs nearly 3,200 people, 81% of whom are women.

"Anyone can suffer from domestic abuse, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation or socio-economic background – or indeed profession. However, statistics show that women are more often affected, which is why we are especially pleased that an organisation with a predominantly female workforce has joined us. We believe that together we can raise awareness among Selver’s employees and support those in need to break free from violent situations," added Triin Adamson, head of the initiative.

All employers, regardless of industry or organisation size, are welcome to join the initiative. We invite businesses, non-profit organisations, foundations, and other legal entities that share our values and vision, as well as citizens who are interested in the cause.
